- Unarmed 18 years of age / armed 21 years of age (minimums)
- US Citizen or legal alien with green card
- Possess a P.E.R.C. card or clean criminal history
- Acceptable credit history
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Ability to speak a second language a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively in routine and emergency situations
- Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license or ID.
- If a driver, must have a clean driving record
- Reliable means of communication (personal phone or pager)
- Reliable means of transportation (car, bus, or train as needed)
- Possess the following personal characteristics:
- Honesty, Responsibility, Courtesy, Tact, Dependability, Integrity, Cooperation, Trustworthiness, Social Adjustment, Emotional Stability, Sound Judgment, Positive Attitude, Flexible, Personal Pride, Neat and Presentable Appearance, Maturity and A positive attitude toward contract security guard duties
- A verifiable, stable, five year work history
- Ability to pass a pre-employment suitability investigation including:
- Criminal history check, Verification of dates and quality of employment, Verification of residence, Personal and professional reference checks
- Ability to meet physical requirements:
- Height and weight proportional, Good mental health, Able to run short distances, Able to lift and carry 50 pounds for short distances, Able to climb stairs, Vision correctable 20 20/20 with glasses or contact lenses, Able to hear normal conversation and whispering at 10 feet
- Be free from illegal drugs as verified by a drug screening test
Any of the following will disqualify you from employment with E.L.A.:
- Inability to obtain an Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card
- Alcohol or drug abuse
- Negligent or delinquency in performance of duties
- Record of discipline under the Uniform Code of Military Justice resulting in an Other Than Honorable Discharge from U.S. Armed Forces
- Excessive debt or bad debt problems as evidenced by dishonored checks, delinquent accounts, or significant collection activities
- Conviction of a felony in any jurisdiction
- Conviction of a misdemeanor in any jurisdiction requiring incarceration
- Any physical or mental condition that may impair the applicants ability to performed duties as a contract security guard, comply with assigned work schedule, and E.L.A. Security policies and procedures
- Any character trait or aberrant behavior that is prejudicial to the reliable performance of the duties of a contract security guard
- Demonstrated poor attitude or lack of motivation
